Hanen® Parenting Program
Is your child not talking yet, or do you have doubts about speech/language development? In this form of speech therapy, as a parent, you will learn how to help your child progress with communication, speech and language through the application of the Hanen communication principles.

Parents of children ages 1.5 years to 5 years old with delays in speech/language development.Contents
In 7 group meetings and 4 individual home visits, using video interaction coaching, I teach you step-by-step how to apply Hanen communication strategies and skills. Thus, during daily activities and play, communication of and with your child is improved and speech/language development is stimulated.What you need
The Hanen parent programs are fully reimbursed by health insurance companies. This requires a referral from a physician or medical specialist - for example, the youth physician, family physician, ENT physician, clinical physicist-audiologist or a pediatrician. The referral letter must mention the Hanen® parent program.Inclusion criteria
- Your child speaks little or nothing (3-word sentences at most).
- As parent(s)/caregiver(s), you are willing to make an effort in the communicative and language development of the child. It involves participation in (online) group meetings and (physical) home visits. Sharing and discussing video recordings in the group is an essential part of the program.
- The course is taught in Dutch, so at least 1 parent/caregiver must be proficient in this language.
The program lasts 3 to 4 months and consists of: 7 group meetings for parents ( 4-6 families), 1 intake (at home) and 3 individual home visits (with child and parents) where video interaction counseling is central.
It is possible to take the Hanen® Parenting Program in combination with individual speech therapy, further examination or second or third line treatment. Whether this combination is used before, during or after Hanen depends on wishes, possibilities and waiting times.
